Within the framework of the protocol signed between Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University Faculty of Islamic Sciences and the Tokat Provincial Muftiyat, the boarding summer course held as part of the "Hifz Along with University Project" at the Faculty of Islamic Sciences, which commenced on July 6, has concluded today.

To appreciate the dedicated efforts demonstrated by the students throughout the summer term, it was decided to reward them with a trip to Istanbul. Prior to the trip, Dean of the Faculty of Islamic Sciences Prof. Dr. Ahmet İnanır, Hifz Project Coordinator Asst. Prof. Dr. Yunus Yalçın, and the participating students of the summer course were received in his office by Rector Prof. Dr. Fatih Yılmaz. Rector Yılmaz congratulated the students participating in the program for their diligence in their Quran memorization studies and wished them continued success.

It was noted that the project, which was officially approved in 2024, is an integrated educational model that begins in the Arabic preparatory class and continues through the end of the fourth year. The project aims to enable students who previously did not have the opportunity to memorize the Quran to complete their Hifz while pursuing their university education.

In this context, students residing at the KYK dormitory during the summer term starting July 6 memorized at least two pages daily, completing a total of 80 pages. The goal for the winter term is to memorize at least another 80 pages. Thus, it is aimed that students will memorize at least 8 Juz (parts) per year, completing their Hifz education alongside their undergraduate studies.

The project also attaches great importance to officially documenting the students' Quran memorization efforts. Thanks to the "Extracurricular and Social Learning Transcript" system implemented at Tokat Gaziosmanpaşa University, students can earn a certificate equivalent to a one-semester course for every 75 pages they memorize. By recording these achievements into their social transcripts via the university's Student Information System (OBS), students can reflect their Hifz education achievements in their official academic records upon graduation.

It was stated that the project is conducted based on the "Juz-based memorization method" (cüz hafızlığı), which serves as an effective model that can be implemented alongside academic education. In this method, students memorize the Quran sequentially from beginning to end in Juz increments. After each Juz is completed, previously memorized sections are regularly reviewed to reinforce retention and establish a solid foundation for Quran memorization.
